Let us begin with a simple fact. There are 2 sides to this isuue.
1. Pro life (anti-abortion)
2. Pro Choice (A woman has the right to choose what happens to her own body)
This should automatically end all discussion as the there is no Pro Abortion stance. However we have a simple problem that occurs when this issue is in play.
RELIGION
more simple facts on this matter are
1. Men should not have any vote on this issue until 1 of us is pregnant.
2. I have yet to meet a pro lifer that counts their nine months in the womb as part of their age.
3. These same people who want government off their back want government in every woman's doctors visit.
4. Abortion has played a part in keeping our population under control and crime from becoming out of control.
5. Adoption as an option is not appropriate in most cases.
6. last but not least is the argument about government funding being used to subsidize abortion.
I will address these issues 1 at a time so let us begin.
1. There are more than 25 different medical considerations when a woman is pregnant, including, morning sickness, body image, weight gain, hormonal imbalance, diabetes, swelling, ETC... Men will never go through this experience and therefore should not have a vote in how this is handled!
2. When does life begin?? I have found that most pro lifers are also creationists. This being the case they are double talking when they claim life starts at conception because conception is the first stage in an EVOLUTIONARY process that becomes a baby. There is also the part that the baby is usually born not breathing and must be gently slapped to start. If life starts at conception then why bother even defining birth? When we count our population we do not include pre-born babies and are not allowed and you cannot count a zygote as a deduction on your taxes. I am also amazed that people so quickly forget that thousands of women died in the process of self aborting before it was legalized.
3. We really need to get religion out of our government. That being said, these small government pro lifers are hypocritical. They want government not telling them what to do while having government tell others what to do.
4. Here comes the argument I like the most. I wanted to be fair so I used a pro life website for the following stats. In the us there are approximately 1.4 million abortions every year. Roe v. Wade happened in 1973 which is 38 years ago. That means we would have approximately 53 million more people adding another 22 million in second generation if this decision had not been made that would make Americas population over 400 million this year. In a country that is broke and trying to keep its social programs to survive do we really need another 75 million mouths to feed and another 40 million people looking for work? Now let us look at my other statement about crime. A documentary called Freakonomics explains this in more detail but it is quite clear when one considers the following Woman were granted freedom of choice in 1973 about 20 years later there was a sharp decrease in crime. This does not prove anything but it stands to reason from the following data 1.4 million less unwanted children, unwanted children commit crimes at an 82% greater rate than others, the majority of woman getting abortions were low income women and lived in high gang and crime areas. We also have the fact that 5 states gave women the freedom of choice 2 years before 1973 and they saw a drastic reduction in crime 2 years before the rest of America. This leads me to believe that it is much more than simple coincidence that when you have fewer unwanted children you have less crime.
5. Adoption, In our great nation we have always had more children available for adoption than being adopted. A child who is adopted is very rarely as stable as a natural child and has led to many court issues in search of birth parents as well as birth parents searching for the child they gave up. The temptation to cause a rift in the lives of all concerned is too great when a piece of oneself is out there somewhere. Adoption also puts a huge strain on our government as while children await adoption they are wards of the state that must be cared for by our tax dollars.
6. Religion again at work spells hypocrisy saying that tax dollars given to our government should not be used on abortion. This makes no sense as stated in 5. Our tax dollars must care for the child up until the age of 18 if put up for adoption and not adopted. If born to a low income household which is a 63% chance then tax dollars will likely pay for WIC, Food stamps, welfare, public school, for this child. So those quoting that they should not have to pay for the mistake of the mother have a choice. They can allow their tax dollars to pay about $500 for the abortion or they can allow approximately $195,000 of their tax dollars to support the child until the age of 18.
I have yet to hear a logical argument on the pro life side that I could put here as I refuse to allow religion to be part of my BLOG.
No life until the baby breathes? Aborthions is the mother's choice until the baby breathes?
ReplyDeleteThe breathing is just a simple point. In human life breathing is what measures whether or not something lives, the first thing we check for to determine life is either pulse or breathing. I will admit that the breathing issue is a touch shallow however the right to choose MUST be preserved.
